Happy Mothers Day

.
Mother's Day is a day to celebrate and honour the unyielding love, dedication, and sacrifice that mothers make every day. It's a time to express gratitude and appreciation for the profound impact they have on our lives and the world around us.

In honour of Mother's Day this Sunday, we sat down with Katalena Katayanagi, the strong & supportive mother of the DJ duo 'Katayanagi Twins' to talk about motherhood.

What’s been your biggest achievement as a mother?
"Well, that’s easy, having beautiful identical twins as my first birth. What a first intro to Motherhood."

What advice would you give to your younger self as a mum?
"Follow your intuition, you have natural intuition and when you become a mother it becomes even stronger, you lean into it more, and trust what your whole being is telling you."

How has your relationship with your own mother influenced your approach to motherhood?

"My Mother came from the “children are seen and not heard” generation, I knew I wanted to be open about all topics with my children. Our relationship is closer now because you don’t know anything until you have children of your own.

What’s something you discovered about motherhood you think others should know?

"Every Mother is different from their birth story to their parenting style. What works for some Māmas may not be for you and that’s ok, find your own style with your tamariki, you can guide each other. Being a Mother is the hardest and yet the most rewarding part of your life."

How has your mum shaped you as sisters and your music career?

"When we were younger, mama always had music playing. She created an environment that began our love for music. She made us take guitar lessons and dance classes, which only grew our love for music."

What inspires you most about your mum?

"Our mama is her creativity and her ability to turn her passions into reality. She graduated from Media Design School and had her own clothing shop on K Road with clothes she made herself all while looking after us."

What attracts you to Stolen Girlfriends Club?

"We love Stolen Girlfriends Clubs edginess and clean rebellious aesthetic"
